Men of League Gala Day at Gerringong

The Gerringong Lions club in the Group 7 CRL competition will join the clubs who have supported the new gala day initiative by men of League in 2011.

This Saturday 20 August, at Michael Cronin Oval, Gerringong, the Lions will take on neighbours Albion Park in a vital clash prior to the start of the finals. Only a few weeks ago the Eagles upset the Lions and the locals will be determined to establish a psychological advantage leading into the finals series.

A feature of the day will be a touch game featuring old boys from both clubs, who will be joined by Me of League representatives Steve Larder and Greg Carberry (Albion Park) , John Simon and Jonathon Britten (Gerringong). All four are prominent ex-Illawarra Steelers.

Men of League will be collecting gold coin donations and distributing lapel pins, along with Men of League magazines. The club will also conduct a raffle of a Men of League merchandise pack, and undertake a recruitment drive for new Men of League members.

The day will also be an opportunity for Men of League to show its support for local grassroots rugby league and any Men of League member who shows their membership badge at the gate will be admitted free of charge.

All 3 senior grades will be in action on the day with under 18s commencing at 11.30am with the home side taking on Bateman’s Bay. Reserve grade kicks off at 1.00pm with the Lions and Eagles clashing.

The 1st grade clash takes on great importance with Gerringong desperate to find winning form with finals just around the corner, and the Eagles looking to continue to build momentum for the finals after a good win over Milton-Ulladulla last week.

Any enquiries regarding the day can be directed to Chris Bannerman at Men of League on 0414 283239.
