Knock On Club Getting Bigger And Better

Our final Knock On Club was held at the Midtown Hotel and we thank our host Barry Dawson with the support of CUB’s Chris Mayberry for satisfying the hunger and thirst of our members in attendance. Guest speaker Paul Bowman covered his career from a junior in Proserpine to North Queensland Cowboys player, highlights of his State of Origin experience and his current role with Cowboys.

Paul was rewarded by winning the Riverside Prime Selection Butchery meat tray, a worthy prize for a Bear to take home to his family.

Fred Whiteman won dinner for two kindly donated by Brothers Leagues Club and, if you haven’t visited the refurbished Brothers’ Club, you are missing out on great facilities and promotions.

Another happy member was Doug Bradley who was heading back home for the Four Nations Rugby League and would have been even more excited when England played Australia in the final. If Doug tells you he had two bob each way he’s telling a porky because his son Fraser told us he was cheering for England.

Old mates of Colly McElligott are reminded he is still out at the Garden Settlement Pallarenda. In November last year Col’s good wife Lorraine brought him out for lunch to be joined by his brothers Alan, Lloyd, Kevin and Ken. The boys hadn’t been together for some time with Alan and Lloyd travelling from Kilkivan and Maryborough.
